Police say a suspected drunk driver left behind major damage at the apartment complex where she lives

PASADENA, TX (KTRK) -- Some residents at a Pasadena apartment complex woke up to find their vehicles damaged this morning after an out-of-control driver plowed through the complex.

It happened just after 7:30am at the Cinnamon Ridge Apartments in the 6500 block of Spencer Highway at Denkman.

"It looks like a tornado like hit us cause it was like everything is all messed up right here," said resident Sarah McCullough.

Bricks were broken and scattered everywhere. A bar-b-q pit and a lawn chair were tossed in a yard after a vehicle plowed into complex. The vehicle just barely missing a resident's back door.

"I thought it's really scary and creepy that someone could do all this damage," said resident Joan McCullouch.

Pasadena police says the 24-year-old driver was intoxicated and driving away from her apartment unit when she first crashed through the metal gates and caused the damage at the complex. But authorities say her drunking rampage began minutes earlier.

"Did you see all the cars back here? There's a whole lot of cars all crashed," Joan said.

Authorities say the driver plowed into seven cars in the parking lot.

"It was a pretty loud bang," said Joan.

Billy Gardners had no idea at the time that his pickup truck was in the reckless driver's path.

"My truck was pinned into these other cars over here. It was just a bad situation," said Gardners. "It's what people get when they drink and drive."

Witnesses say the drunk driver got out of her car and ran back to her apartment where officers arrested her and charged her with DWI for allegedly causing this $55,000 mess.
