Man shot in his bedroom after gunman opens fire from vehicle outside

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is recovering at the hospital after he was shot while in the bedroom of his southwest Houston home.

Police say around 1:00am, a gunman in a blue hatchback type vehicle drove up to the man's home on Newbrook Drive and South Dairy Ashford Road. The gunman then began shooting, firing multiple shots into the home.

The victim, who was in the home's front bedroom, was struck in the check. He was taken to Hermann Hospital and is expected to survive.

Police do not know why the man's home was targeted. Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting is encouraged to call HPD or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
