Man arrested after barricading himself inside convenience store

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A traffic stop led to a standoff at a north Harris County gas station.

It happened late last night at the Shell station on Hollow Tree and Westfield Place.

A female Harris County deputy pulled over a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle then got into an altercation with the deputy.

The deputy used a Taser on the driver, but he managed to get free and run into the Shell station and barricaded himself inside. He surrendered after backup was called to the scene.

The suspect was medically checked before being taken into custody. Charges against him are pending.
