Decomposed body found in abandoned Liberty Co. church

KENEFICK, Texas (KTRK) -- Human remains were found in an abandoned church in southern Liberty County, according to authorities.

A groundskeeper found the body on Wednesday morning at a church in the 5900 block of FM 1008, near Kenefick.

Liberty County Sheriff's Sgt. Investigator Chris Ungles described the remains as badly decomposed, adding that they appeared to be those of a white female who was fully dressed at the time of her death.

Authorities have yet to determine the woman's identity and cause of death.

No other details have been released.
