Police need help tracking down a killer
The victim's car was taken after she was shot Friday in her SW Houston home

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston Police need the public's help finding the person who killed a 31-year old mother Friday in Alief.

The victim's sons found their mom lying lifeless in a pool of blood in their Pine Knoll Drive home Friday afternoon.

They ran two doors down to Margarita Rodriguez Mata's home for help. She ran ran to the house with the boys while her husband called 911.

Police arrived and the victim was pronounced dead. Family members showed up a short time later. We're told the kids left the scene with them.

Saturday, Margarita described the fear she saw in the two brothers.

Christopher Aguillar interpreted for her, "The kids were really scared. They were pulling her shirt so they can go...that she was weak and blood to go help her. She was not moving."

Investigators haven't released the victim's identity. They also haven't released the identity of a person of interest or a suspect, but they know the victim's missing vehicle could lead them to her killer.

It's a white or silver Nissan Rogue, Texas License Plate DMP - 8163
