Ft. Bend Co. man accused of abusing daughter
Authorities say 35-year-old Mark Long, Sr. admits to strikinghis daughter on at least four occasions.

FT. BEND COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A 13-year-old girl says she was "whipped" repeatedly by her father with an electrical cord.

Authorities say 35-year-old Mark Long, Sr. admits to striking the girl on at least four occasions.

The girl cried out to a school nurse at Sugar Land Middle School on October 23. According to an arrest warrant for Long, the nurse and deputies both saw marks on her arms, back and legs consistent with those that could have been made with an extension cord.

The girl told investigators her father picked her up from school the day before, was angry about her "behavioral issues," and began striking her.

Court documents reveal the girl then showed detectives over 30 marks, scars and bruises all over her body, including one on the left side of her face. Some of the wounds appeared to be in later stages of healing.

All appeared consistent with injuries caused by an electrical power cord, according to investigators.

Court documents indicate Long told detectives he had been having behavioral issues with his daughter for "several years" and that punishment such as grounding her or taking items away from her do "not work."

Long said his daughter "...only responds to physical discipline." He allegedly admitted striking her ten times during the most recent incident and said he had disciplined her in the same fashion three other times this month.

Long posted $5,000 bond. He refused to comment when contacted today outside his Sugar Land-area home.
