Burglars smash into Family Dollar, leave empty handed

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are investigating an attempted burglary at a north Houston Family Dollar store.

It happened around 2:30am at the Family Dollar located in the 600 Block of West Cavalcade.

Witness told police they saw a truck back into the store and quickly called 911. Two men then jumped out of the truck but did not take anything from the store.

The vehicle backed directly into the safe, but police say the safe was not taken.

Police later located what they believe is the suspect's truck nearby in a bayou. The investigation is still ongoing.
