Search underway for possible drowning victim
Crews found a capsized canoe on the creek when they responded around 9pm

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A search continues along the banks of Cypress Creek for a possible drowning victim.

A 911 call was received by Northeast fire and rescue at 8:40pm Saturday. When firefighters arrived, they found a capsized canoe in the slow-moving creek. What appeared to be a fishing tackle box and other gear was also recovered.

Precinct 4 deputies were seen talking to a woman who was distraught, demanding that she be allowed to go to the creek, saying it was her husband who was missing. Deputies from the area constable's office did not immediately comment on the incident.

The county and two local fire departments are involved in the search, which is concentrated along the creek beneath the Cypresswood bridge.
