Construction worker killed in accident at ExxonMobil's Baytown Olefins Plant

BAYTOWN, TX (KTRK) -- A construction worker at ExxonMobil's Olefins Plant in Baytown was killed during an incident at the plant Thursday afternoon.

ExxonMobil's media relations confirms the contractor was fatally injured while working on a construction project. The plant says emergency workers immediately attended to the employee and plant officials are now investigating the cause of the incident.

ExxonMobil released a statement saying:

"We are greatly saddened by this and express our deepest sympathy to his family and his co-workers. The name of the individual will not be released until his family has been notified."

ExxonMobil says the contractor was employed by Group, which is a subcontract company hired to work at the site.
