HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Do you want to be a part of Super Bowl history but don't want to spend that kind of money on a ticket? A Houston man wants to help you out.

Kent Maree, who holds a city of Houston parking permit as Front Row Parking, is opening up a parking area at 9330 South Main. That's just a few blocks from NRG Stadium and it will be tough to beat the price.

He plans to charge just $40 all day on Sunday.

"Could charge more but I'd rather have the volume of people," Maree told Eyewitness News.

The plot of land between S. Main and Buffalo Speedway is about 12 acres and big enough to fit up to 2,000 vehicles.

Parking at NRG Park is $100 and up. Other nearby lots won't be far behind.

"I've got the space and a lot people can afford $40 to bring out their family," Maree said.

He says it's part relationship-building for other upcoming big events like the rodeo for which he plans to be open, and part goodwill so that local families can feel connected to the Super Bowl and not go broke.

"Have a good time and make a day of it," he added.

The lot is available for game parking. There will be a shuttle for a cost, lot attendants and security. However, Maree is encouraging tailgating.

You might not be inside the biggest sports event of the year, but you'll be close.

The lot will be open Saturday and Sunday with entertainment and other activities planned. Parking Saturday will cost $20 and on Sunday it goes up to $40. The shuttle to NRG Park will cost $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
