Carjacking victim shot four times in northwest Harris County

The victim is expected to be OK, but the search for the suspects is ongoing
Deputies are searching for the suspect who shot a man four times during a carjacking in northwest Harris County.

It happened around 6pm in the 12400 block of Sarti.

Authorities say the victim, who's been identified as 68-year-old Ed Turner, was shot four times in his driveway and was taken by ambulance to Ben Taub General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. His neighbors heard gunshots and rushed to help.

"We couldn't do anything but try to stop the bleeding," said Jonathan Luna, who used his shirt as a pillow to comfort Turner.

Turner, a retiree, had just returned home when two men in their 20's approached. As he was waiting for the ambulance and bleeding, he described what happened.

"He confronted him and asked if he could help. He said when the guy pulled the gun out, he struck one of them in the face with a pole," Luna said.

The gunmen took off in his truck, a 2003 silver Ford F-150. Residents on Lawn Arbor reported it on fire around 8:45pm. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office says there was another carjacking nearby around 9:30pm. They are looking into whether the two are connected. The gunmen are still at large.

Meanwhile, Turner's family says he is out of surgery and stable. Neighbors describe him as well-liked in the Fountainhead subdivision. He often repairs things for those in need.

"I considered him a friend. If anyone needs help, he's there. He's a good man," said neighbor Ed Harvey.
