FORT BEND COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A carjacker in Fort Bend County was caught on camera moments before attacking his elderly victim.

The carjacking happened Monday around 3:20pm in the parking lot of George Memorial Library in Richmond.

"He was confronted by this suspect actually inside the library," said Lt. Lowell Neinast with the Richmond Police Department. "He was opening the door, and that's the first time he came into contact with the suspect. He was able to get away from that situation."

But when he walked out of the library about 20 minutes later, Lt. Neinast says the suspect was waiting to take the car.

"As he was in his vehicle with the vehicle started, the same male suspect approached his vehicle, literally pulled him out of the vehicle, threw him on the ground and drove off in his vehicle," Lt. Neinast said.

This bad guy is described as a tall black man with an orange mohawk. He was wearing a black jacket and white t-shirt, and a wristband possibly from a hospital or a jail. He was last seen driving the victim's white 2008 Toyota Prius heading northbound on FM 762.

Patrons at the library on Tuesday were not happy to hear this news.

"It's sad to hear that the level of crime and taking advantage of the elderly is happening in Richmond and Rosenberg," said Jeff Simpson.

"It just should not happen. You shouldn't be a target because of your age or anything like that," added Pat Henderson.

The cops want this guy off the street.

"This is unacceptable and he needs to be caught," said Lt. Neinast.
