RANCHO CUCAMONGA, California (KTRK) -- A 24-year-old carjacked an elderly woman in the parking lot of a California jail and took her on a harrowing 90-minute joyride, according to police.

The carjacking began at the Rancho Cucamonga jail, where Virginia Bautista was waiting for her daughter.

According to authorities, Monique Cadena, who was newly released from the jail, hopped into Bautiasta's car.

"I said, 'What are you doing?" She said, 'We are gonna go for a ride,'" Bautista recalled in an interview with KCAL-TV.

Bautista has high blood pressure and knew that kind of ride could trigger a heart attack, especially when the two began to argue.

"She grabbed the jar and she was gonna hit me, and I said, 'Go ahead and hit me! Add one more bad thing against your story.'"

Virginia was finally dropped off at a gas station about 90 minutes later. She said the ordeal has left her wondering what the world has come to over the 99 years she's been around.
