HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The woman accused of assaulting an elderly, disabled woman in Memorial Village was due in court Monday morning.

Brenda Floyd was charged with injury to an elderly person, which is a 3rd degree felony and a $5,000 bond.

Investigators say Floyd had been a caregiver for 94-year-old Dorothy Bratten for about three years.

According to detectives, her son became suspicious about mysterious bruises on his mother, so he set up a surveillance camera which captured the disturbing video on New Year's Day. The video appears to be Floyd repeatedly striking Bratten.

The judge ordered Floyd to have no contact with Bratton or her family and that she can't work as a home healthcare provider at this time.

Floyd is stilling Harris County custody.
