Car found under water in Sims Bayou

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police, fire and emergency crews are on standby for a dive rescue.

Witnesses say someone drove a vehicle into Sims Bayou in the 8100 block of the Gulf Freeway and River Drive.

Around 11:30pm last night, the witness saw a car leave the road and crash into the bayou. He called police to report the incident.

He and another witness at the scene did not see anyone get out of the car.

Police have not released any details about the make and model of the vehicle. It's not clear whether this is related to a traffic accident or if it's possibly a criminal act.
