Burglars smashed into a store and took a number of cell phones. Courtney Fischer reports.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a burglary at a cell phone shop in northeast Houston led to a police chase.

Four people have been taken into custody after the chase which began around 4am on Fulton at the North Loop.

Officers say the four detained used a sledgehammer to make their way into a Simple Mobile store on Fulton near Crosstimbers. The two men and two women then allegedly grabbed as many cell phones as they could.

Houston police were able to catch up with the burglary suspects at the Eastex Freeway near Parker.

An Eyewitness News crew saw numerous boxes of cell phones littered on the ground outside the store.

Investigators also found the sledgehammer allegedly used in the burglary.
