Woman killed while trying to walk across Highway 290

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Highway 290 at the 610 West Loop was shut down for hours after police found a body in the middle of the freeway.

According to Houston Transtar, a three-vehicle accident at that location was verified at 8:52pm.

Houston police say a female in her 30's tried to walk across the freeway when she was struck by a car and killed. Officers believe the woman was homeless.

The driver who hit the woman pulled over after the accident. That driver will not face any charges.
