7-year-old drowns in San Jacinto River
A second person has drowned in the San Jacinto River over the Fourth of July weekend.

CROSBY, TX (KTRK) -- A tragic end to a July 4th weekend outing after a 7-year-old boy drowned at a marina in Crosby.

Paramedics received a call around 10:30am about a drowning at Love's Marina on Old Beaumont Highway near Gulf Pump Road on the San Jacinto River, said Christy Graves, the director of operations for Harris County Emergency Services District #5. By the time they arrived, the boy was on the embankment and bystanders were doing resuscitation efforts. But it was too late.

Graves said the boy was reported "missing for some time" prior to the 911 call, but it's unclear how long he was gone.

The boy and his parents are from Baytown.

A three-year-old drowned in that same area two years ago. Graves says whenever the River floods, it changes the depth and the embankment and there can be strong currents in this area.
