An off-duty officer was arrested after police say they found him outside a woman's home

WILLIAMSBURG, IA (KTRK) -- An off-duty police officer in Iowa was arrested after authorities say they found him lurking outside a stranger's front door.

Off-duty Iowa State Patrol Officer Patrick Steinbach had worked with the department many times, but was generally uncooperative with police when they arrived, according to a report by local station KWWL.

Body cam video and audio captured the scene when officers arrived to investigate. You can watch it in the video player above.

At one point in the conversation, Steinbach reportedly told the arresting officer he was making the community weaker.

Williamsburg Police Department Chief Ray Garringer said, "Do I wish that he would have been treated better you know by Steinbach? Yes. But as far as do we hold a grudge for what happened? No. I mean we know that sometimes alcohol makes people do things and say things that they wouldn't normally do."

Additional video from the night shows Steinbach sitting in the officer's car, still not cooperating. He can also be seen struggling with a sobriety test. Steinbach was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
