911 call released from terrifying break-in
A 12-year-old girl grabbed a knfe and hid when she noticed someone breaking in

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We have the 911 call from a dramatic break-in in northwest Harris County we told you about earlier this month. A 12-year-old girl was home alone when a burglar broke in.

When we first interviewed Amrit Jandu a couple of weeks ago, we were all struck by how calm and collected she was as an intruder broke in.

She was home alone upstairs when she heard someone breaking in, shattering a back glass door. Amrit grabbed a big kitchen knife, locked herself in the bathroom and now we're hearing the 911 call she made in those terrifying moments:

"Harris county 911," the dispatcher answered her call.

"Someone's outside in my back yard and they're about to break open the door," said Jandu. "Please help me."

"How old are you?" asked the dispatcher.

"Hurry up. Please, please," she said.

That burglar ransacked the home and took off running down the street. Police caught up with him and got back the stolen items.

Amrit says she always keeps a kitchen knife handy, and obviously she knows how to think under a great deal of pressure
