Video released by Mexican officials show Joaquin Guzman as he is processed after his January arrest

Mexican drug lord Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman is missing so much shuteye at night, he's ready to be extradited to the U.S. just to get well again.

That's according to his attorney, who says El Chapo is chronically sleep deprived, and as a result, is growing ill.

El Chapo says through his lawyers that he will plead guilty to drug trafficking if he is transferred to the U.S.

How Guzman escaped a Mexican prison

Mexican officials say this animated video shows how 'El Chapo' escaped prison.

But, the attorney says the drug lord would only agree to extradition if U.S. officials agree not to keep him in isolation, and to house him in a medium-security prison.

El Chapo has escaped twice from maximum security prisons in Mexico, including his most recent escape in July 2015.

He was re-arrested in January.

He is currently wanted in seven U.S. states. Mexican officials say they have already began working to extradite Guzman to the U.S.
