HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- At least two people were arrested Thursday after deputies raided a suspected drug house near a Heights-area high school.

Harris County Precinct 1 deputies conducted the operation at a home in the 3900 block of Cortlandt Street near Booker T. Washington High School.

Investigators recovered a gun, marijuana, meth and black tar heroin. The drug bust was two months in the making.

"I turned down this street and happened to view a drug transaction taking place and I said that's just terrible because of the close proximity to the high school," Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen said.

He says it didn't take long for authorities to build a case.

"Usually in the front, they would just pull up and go right up to the front door," Rosen added.

Parents in the neighborhood are grateful the suspects are behind bars.

"Behind us we have a high school trying to educate minds for higher learning," John Branch said. "Behind us is a crack house that's destroying minds, so we don't need those two together."
