Armed robber shoots man outside convenience store, steals his watch

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are looking for a violent armed robber who shot a man in order to steal his watch.

It happened as the victim was leaving a convenience store around 11:30pm last night on S. Post Oak near the Sam Houston Parkway. The victim was approached by the gunman who demanded money.

When the victim refused to hand over any cash, the robber shot him twice in the abdomen and stole his watch. The gunman then took off on foot.

The victim jumped into his girlfriend's car. She was going to try to rush him to the hospital. They only made it a few blocks before pulling into another store's parking lot and calling 011.

The man was taken to Ben Taub Hospital and is expected to survive. Police are hoping surveillance video will lead to the shooter's arrest.
