ALVIN, TX (KTRK) -- An Alvin man's mysterious disappearance prompted days of searching by Texas Equusearch. And today the search is on 'full-force' with over 70 people showing up to assist with the search.

Forrest Nearing, 39, went for a walk with his dog on Tuesday and hasn't returned home. Nearing is a father to a five-month-old daughter. His family said they found his beloved dog wet near Chocolate Bayou and Wickwillow Lane in Brazoria County.

Texas Equusearch search crews spent the past three days canvassing the area by foot, with dogs, and in the air. So far, there's been no sign of Nearing.

Tim Miller founded Texas EquuSearch. He told abc13 their biggest concern is Nearing may have ended up in the bayou. Miller explained Nearing's wet dog is their best clue.

"They said that his dog would not leave his side. That's why we're having our main focus in the bayou," said Miller. "The family is beside themselves fearing the worst. I'm not going to say that we're not fearing the worst. We're eliminating areas and hoping we come up with something."

Eric Landgrebe jumped into the Chocolate Bayou. He's a close family friend of the Nearings.

Landgrebe said the goal is to find the father alive.

"Forrest is a loving father and husband. His family wants him back," said Landgrebe. "Nobody wants to deal with something like this. Really, it doesn't make sense when someone goes missing."

If you've seen Forrest Nearing or know anything about his disappearance, you're asked to contact S. Richardson with the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office at 281-756-2392 or Texas EquuSearch at 281-309-9500.
