ALDINE, TX (KTRK) -- The Aldine community is giving back in a big way, just two days before Christmas.

Hundreds of people were lined up as early as 6am Friday outside MacArthur High School to receive toys for the first annual Aldine Community Toy Drive.

Adam Montenayor is one of the main organizers. He grew up in the Aldine neighborhood, and he always wanted to give back to underprivileged kids.

"We've seen a lot of smiles," Montenayor said. "We hope this is encouragement for other neighborhoods."

Local businesses, wrecker companies and community partners all came together.

"We're just bouncing around, trying to get all the toys together," Montenayor said.

The bikes were a big hit, then a visit from Santa.

For little Jesus, he says he's on the nice list. He's made good grades this year.

"I want to get something like a car that I can go around with all over the place. I'm so excited," Jesus said.

The community raised more than $5,000 worth of toys to give to children in the area.
