HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Former news anchor Dan Rather joined us at abc13 to talk about the presidential race and what he sees in the future for media.

"It's not that television is being eliminated any more than television eliminated radio, but most people if they don't already, get their news off the internet or some version of the internet," says Rather.

His grandson, Martin Rather is a Rice University student who is a part of a program called The Rather Prize.

The prize is awarded to the Texas educator or school with the winning idea on how best to improve education in Texas.

"The two of us have been going around and we are encouraging students, teachers and administrators. We need a 10,000 prize winner and $10,000 support next to Rice University right here in Houston," Martin Rather said.

More information on the Rather Prize can be found at ratherprize.com.
