HOUSTON -- Federal prosecutors say three Central American men have been arrested for directing at least two minors to engage in commercial sex acts.
Prosecutors said in a release Tuesday that the three have been arrested in recent days on charges that include conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor by force or coercion.
Charged in a federal indictment are 52-year-old Adelio de Jesus Batres, 40-year-old Jose William Quintanilla and 36-year-old Hugo Alexander Melendez, all of El Salvador. Prosecutors say Melendez was arrested Sunday and the others Monday.
The indictment alleges that beginning in late 2010 the three conspired to have minors commit commercial sex acts. Prosecutors say they told young women in the country illegally how to solicit and charge for sex. The men collected the fees that were paid.
