Fort Bend ISD teachers say second grade students attacked them.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A small group of Ridgemont Elementary School teachers attended the Fort Bend ISD school board meeting Monday evening, one of them telling the board about how she was attacked by a second grader.

The Fort Bend Employee Federation said attacks by two separate second graders against two different teachers have happened this school year.

According to the union, the 7-year-old and 8-year-old students should have been removed from regular classrooms but were not.

"It does not surprise me. It does not surprise me at all. There's a lot of absentee parents that expect the schools to raise their kids," said Josh Perez, a parent at the school.

In a statement, Fort Bend ISD said in part, "Under state and federal laws, Fort Bend ISD is prohibited from releasing information regarding disciplinary incidents and actions involving students. However, it is important that our community understand that we take every effort to ensure student and staff safety, and follow all appropriate processes and protocols to ensure compliance with the Student Code of Conduct and more importantly, the law."
