Pedestrian killed after being hit by car on 288

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One person is dead after being hit by a car on State Highway 288 at MacGregor, authorities confirm.

The accident happened just before 8 p.m. It's not clear why the person who was struck was on the freeway.

The northbound main lanes remain closed as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim.
