Houston police officer hurt in wreck near the Beltway

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A Houston police officer is recovering after a crash off the north Beltway.

Police say the officer was stopped at a red light at Aldine Westfield around 2 a.m. when an SUV rear-ended his vehicle.

The officer went to the hospital with neck and back pain.

Police say the driver of the SUV was not intoxicated but may have been speeding.
