HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Parking in downtown Houston can be a real challenge, but you now have a brand new option.

A new surface lot at 801 Texas Avenue, between Milam and Travis, is now open.

It's on the site of the old Houston Chronicle building.

Rates start at $10 for up to two hours and go up to $30 for 24 hours.

Then on November 1st, a brand new garage opens at 805 Franklin Street, at Travis Street.

Together, these new facilities add about 500 additional parking spots downtown.
