How to wear summer white in the fall
Forget about no white after Labor Day!

I'm a big believer in extending the pieces of my wardrobe into as many seasons as I can. You can totally take your whites into fall, you just need to know how to do it!

According to Luxington Boutique owner Terin Matlock, the key to wearing white in the fall is to make sure you pair it with richer colors and fabrics. But there is one caveat - eyelets and linens don't apply!

Here's what you need to know:

  • Take a white base like a white T-shirt and jeans and throw on a lightweight utility jacket, which are really big for Fall. They cinch at the waist and cover the bum (they're figure-flattering!) and wearing one in an army green warms it up. Add on a brown bootie to complete the look.
  • Wear your white pants with an oatmeal-shaded loose T-shirt and throw on a denim jacket. When you are wearing white pants, you want to try to match your top and bottom, so we added a gold scarf and a brown bootie to complete the look.
  • Kimonos are really on-trend, even for fall. With a white base, add on a kimono with darker colors like blacks, navies, and rich reds. Add on a black bootie to complete the look.
  • If you have a white sundress in a heavier material, layer it over a chambray shirt. Pair it with a cute fringed bootie and you're good to go for the cooler temperatures!
