A sparkling mineral water brand generally favored and consumed by Texans is being acquired by Coca-Cola.

The soda maker announced plans to integrate Topo Chico as a premium water brand.

Coca-Cola already boasts Dasani and Glaceau's Smartwater as its non-soda, non-juice offerings.

Foodbev Media reports Topo Chico will continue to be bottled from the same natural source in northern Mexico.

The two brands already have history with each other. The first bottle of Coca-Cola in Mexico was bottled at a Topo Chico facility in the 1920's.

In kind, Coca-Cola's second-largest bottling partner in Latin America has bottled and distributed Topo Chico for the last 30 years, Foodbev Media reported.

Texas accounts for about 70 percent of Topo Chico's U.S. sales.
