Body found in trash can near burned home has been identified

PATTON VILLAGE, Texas (KTRK) -- A body recovered near a house fire in Patton Village has been identified as 37-year-old Jason Gilbert of Splendora, TX.

Firefighters responded to the house fire early Wednesday morning on South Lakeview. Investigators discovered a blood soaked mattress in the backyard of the fire scene. They found the body near the home Thursday night.

Police had been searching for Jason Gilbert and another man Aaron Phillips-- the last known occupants of the home.
