Welcome home, Billy Jack
Port Arthur couple thrilled to be reunited with their horse after Harvey flooding

PORT ARTHUR, Texas (KTRK) -- Thousands were separated from their furry loved ones during Hurricane Harvey. But now one family is whole again.

Gaither and Donna Beard live in Port Arthur and say it broke their hearts when they couldn't get their 5-year-old horse Billy Jack out of the chest-deep floodwater.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office eventually helped them get him to safety but it took weeks for them to find Billy Jack again.

The Houston SPCA has helped reunite more than 200 animals with their owners, including 40 horses.
