Motive unknown after driver leads pursuit of 130mph
Troopers said they do not know why a driver decided to speed away during a traffic stop.

WALLISVILLE, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities are trying to figure out why a driver eluded troopers during a routine traffic stop, traveling at speeds of up to 130 mph.

DPS troopers were trying to stop a Dodge Nitro for an equipment violation in the area of the East Freeway and Waco Street at around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The Dodge SUV led troopers to the East Beltway 8 at the Wallisville exit. The vehicle crashed into a brick wall of an apartment complex ending the chase.

The driver was taken to the hospital with a broken leg from the crash.

Authorities have not immediately said what charges the driver will face.
