Suspect spotted 3 minutes after carjacking in Harris Co.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The suspect in a north Harris County carjacking didn't make it very far before deputies caught up with him.

Three minutes after 17-year-old Deangelo Garcia and another man allegedly stole a car at gunpoint on Cantwell Drive, Harris County Precinct 4 deputies said they saw him driving the stolen vehicle down Veterans Memorial Drive.

When deputies attempted to stop Garcia, he led them on a short pursuit that eventually ended near the intersection of Bammel North Houston and West Greens Road, according to investigators.

Garcia was arrested and has been charged with aggravated robbery and felony evading in a motor vehicle.

The car has been returned to its owner, and investigators are working to identify the second suspect.
