HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A sad weekend at two of Houston's largest Baptist churches.

The wives of two well-known pastors at Houston's First Baptist and Second Baptist Church passed away in a matter of days.

Jo Beth Young, wife of prominent Second Baptist Church pastor Dr. Ed Young, died Sunday morning.

Last Wednesday, Uldine Bisagno died after a battle with cancer. She stood beside her husband John, who served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church from 1970 until 2000.

Jo Beth Young has died at the age of 80, Second Baptist Church announced on Facebook.

Jo Beth helped shepherd Second Baptist Church alongside her husband for 39 years, after moving to Houston in 1978.

She made most of her impact behind the scenes at the church as a Bible study teacher. She also raised three sons, all of which became pastors.

She and Dr. Young were married 58 years ago, and have 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Second Baptist Church will hold memorial services for her at the Woodway Worship Center on Thursday at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, hundreds turned out for a celebration of life service last week for Uldine.

She and her husband were married for 63 years, and had two sons, a daughter, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Youcaring page has been launched to help her husband after their home flooded during Harvey.
