Houston Astros fans react to division title win

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Fans are excited as the Astros clinch the division title for the first time in 16 years.

This the first time the Astros have won the American League West title since moving to the division in 2013.

"Of course! We're the greatest! We're the Astros," answered one fan when asked if he knew the Astros would win today.

Many of those at the game rushed to buy their division champions gear. The Astros team store at Minute Maid Park will be open for 24 straight hours to sell the "AL West Division Champions" shirts, hats and more.

"It was a great game! My God, we're just so happy we were here to see it," said another Astros fan.

The Astros are the fourth team to punch their ticket to the MLB postseason in 2017.

The Astros were helped by a monster first half of the season that gave them at one point the best record in baseball.

Despite post-All Star break hiccups, Houston was able to clinch the AL West at more than 10 games up on their closest rival.
