Man on the run after killing wife in Baytown, deputies say
The Harris County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man accused of shooting his wife in Baytown.

BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) -- UPDATE (Sunday 10:32 a.m.) - Roy Garcia, the woman's estranged husband, has surrendered to troopers near San Antonio.

The search continues for the suspected killer of a Baytown mother who was fatally shot in front of two of her children. The suspect is her estranged husband.

It happened early Saturday afternoon on the street where Julie Martinez lived. Her family said she had filed papers just before Hurricane Harvey to remove her husband from the house. The deadline for him to leave was less than two weeks away.

Neighbors said they heard the couple arguing in front of the house. Martinez got in her SUV, with her teenage daughter in the front passenger seat and her 5-year-old son in the back.

Witnesses said the husband followed, fired at the truck and fatally wounded Martinez. Her daughter called for help, but her mother died before it arrived.

He drove away, and the search for him began.

Her husband was arrested last year for domestic violence. Martinez's family said there were more incidents than that.

The suspect's family also came to the scene and stood outside the yellow crime scene tape after talking to investigators. Deputies said he had been in contact with his family after the shooting and they wanted him to turn himself in.

According to the sheriff's office, he's driving a tan-colored Chevy Tahoe with Texas plates DLF3306. Anyone who has seen this truck is asked to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
