Pasadena auction guarantees autos not flooded by Harvey
ABC13's Jeff Ehling looks at the Pasadena auto auction happening this weekend.

PASADENA, Texas (KTRK) -- If your vehicle had flood damage during Harvey like thousands of others, this could be an opportunity you'll want to take advantage of.

Copart is holding an auto auction selling 5,000 vehicles at a fraction of their original cost.

The best part is they've inspected each car, and have separated out which ones flooded.

Here's a list of auctions in the Houston area this week:

Tuesday and Friday, 12 p.m.

Copart Auction

1655 Rankin Road

Houston, Texas 77073

Phone 281-214-7800

Wednesday, 12-4 p.m.

IAAI Houston

2535 West Mt. Houston Road

Houston, Texas 77038

Phone 281-847-4700

Note: Public vehicle preview every Tuesday from 12-4 p.m.

Of course, if you don't make it to the auction and you still need to look for a replacement car, here are some things to observe in avoiding a flooded "clunker."

  • Musty odor in the interior: it can sometimes be covered with a strong air freshener
  • Upholstery or carpeting that is loose, new, stained or doesn't match
  • Rust around doors, under the dashboard, on the pedals, or inside the hood and trunk latches
  • Fog or moisture beads in the interior lights or the instrument panel.

Like any car you buy, you really need to come down to check the vehicles before buying.
