HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Astros starting pitcher Mike Fiers has received a five-game suspension and an undisclosed fine from Major League Baseball.
The penalty stems from Fiers throwing a fastball over the head of Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Valbuena in retaliation Wednesday night. Former Astro Valbuena homered in his previous at-bat and angered Fiers by flipping his bat.
Fiers has declined to appeal the suspension, a punishment that does nothing more than push back his next start and cost him some money.
