Pulling on a face mask, Lisa Lundquist led us into her flood ravaged home. She knows nobody really wants to go inside.

It's been 10 days since Harvey hit and her home is still a soggy, stinky mess.

"My children are alive. I got some pictures, I have some things still," she said with her voice catching. "But it's hard, it's going to take a long time to rebuild."

Lundquist and her neighbors just happen to live near Buffalo Bayou in the neighborhood between Briar Forest and Memorial, with Gessner running north and south.

Many said they've never flooded before. In fact, when we first met Lundquist the night that Harvey hit, she said the same thing.

"Fortunately, we don't get it in our house, but it just comes all the way up, just closer and closer," she said on Aug. 26.

Things are different now. Gessner Road that runs by her house, is still underwater. The closed off streets are causing traffic headaches throughout Houston's west side, as well as the Memorial Villages of Bunker Hill, Hunters Creek, and Hedwig Village.

"We don't have the road capacity," said Memorial Villages Police Chief Ray Schultz. "The road through The Villages are all single lane, lots of stop signs, lots of traffic signals, there's just too many merge point, it causes an issue for us."

Chief Schultz says the problem was made worse because tens of thousands of drivers using Google Maps or Waze Apps were led into The Villages, but only got gridlock instead.

Houston City officials say the roads should be open sometime this weekend. It will certainly relieve traffic, but not heartache for Lundquist and her neighbors

"We've loved living here, it's great neighborhood, great school system, but I'm done with all of this," Lundquist added.
