Houston woman dodging 2nd hurricane in 2 weeks
A Houston woman is now dodging her second hurricane in two weeks.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- With record-breaking storms hitting the United States back-to-back, some unlucky people have been caught in the paths of both Harvey and Irma.

Chris Covington flew out of Houston the Saturday before Harvey hit to visit her daughter in Miami. Now, the pair is trying to get back home to Texas before Irma hits.

"I tell my friends, 'If you hear I'm going to a coast anywhere, please don't go because that probably won't be a good thing," she said.

Covington took one of the last flights out of George Bush Intercontinental Airport the Saturday night before Harvey arrived.

"I feel a little guilty that I wasn't there to help," she said.

She headed to Miami to be with her daughter Carolyn, a University of Miami cheerleader, who was having ACL surgery.

Houstonians are worried about family members and property in Hurricane Irma's path.

"When she was clear to fly. We're gone. We're getting out of here," Chris said.

Right now, Miami looks like Houston two weeks ago, with people stocking up on gas and groceries. Many are also rushing to get out of Irma's way.

The storm's already ripped through the Caribbean, and with Harvey's impact still fresh in the minds of many, the fear is even stronger.

"School is pretty crazy," Carolyn said. "They told us to basically get out as soon as possible."

Now, the Covingtons are hoping they're in the clear to get back home to the Houston area before Irma hits.

"If you could, say a little prayer for that. Flight's at 6:25. Hopefully, we'll be in Houston by 8:30. That's the goal tomorrow morning," Chris said.
