HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- This has been a historic week for the Texas National Guard with a full deployment meeting the needs of those who called for help.

On Friday, ABC13 was invited on a flight to show us first hand how they work.

Two pilots, a crew chief and two rescue swimmers were on the Blackhawk helicopter and surveyed the flood waters for survivors looking to escape.
