HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Several cell phone carriers are offering free service to customers affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Verizon

Verizon is offering free service - data, text and voice - to all of its postpaid customers in affected areas. The offer is effective Saturday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Sept. 8.

Customers might receive alerts that they've gone over their data, but those can be ignored.

The company says it knows how important it is to have the ability to connect with loved ones - worrying about going over data limits shouldn't be a concern for folks at this time.

AT&T

Beginning Saturday, Aug. 26, and running through at least Friday, Sept. 1, AT&T will issue credits to wireless customers in impacted areas for additional data, voice and text charges, and AT&T PREPAID for additional voice and text charges.

AT&T said its thoughts are with everyone impacted by Hurricane Harvey and the customers who have friends and family there.

Customer location and credit will be based on account billing address.

Sprint

Effective Saturday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Sept. 1, Sprint will waive casual call and text fees for Sprint, Boost and Virgin Mobile customers in the impacted areas of Texas and Louisiana.

Customers on Unlimited plans will continued to enjoy their unlimited data, call and text benefits.

Customers are encouraged to use text messaging when possible due to high call volumes and possible network congestion in the local area.

"Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this incredible storm and we are doing all we can to help them stay connected during this time," said Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile is offering free calling to its customers.

From Friday, Aug. 25 through Friday, Sept. 1, T-Mobile and MetroPCS customers, including prepaid users, can call anywhere in the Unites States for free. You must live in the following area codes in Texas: 830, 512, 210, 936, 956, 361,979, 281,832,713, 936, or 409.
