Man details brutal attack while walking with his wife in South Braeswood

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man who was brutally beaten while walking with his wife in the South Braeswood area said his attacker appeared to be on drugs or out of his mind.

Onsy Kirolos was released from the hospital after going through several surgeries to repair his face after a man attacked him August 11 near the intersection of S. Braeswood and S. Gessner.

Kirolos and his wife were going for an evening walk for exercise. He thought they would be safe walking on the sidewalk around 7 p.m., but he said they came in contact with a man who didn't appear to be in his right mind.

"Suddenly he looked at me, turns and looks at me," Kirolos said.

Kirolos' son helped translate part of his father's interview with Eyewitness News. He said the man told his father he was walking too close to him.

"And he was like, 'why are you walking behind me like that, are you watching me? Are you trying to watch me?,' Kirolos' son said.

Then, Kirolos said, the man attacked him, punching him several times and knocking him to the ground, breaking bones in his face.

"When I looked up, I opened my mouth, too much blood fell down," Kirolos said. "From where this blood came from, from my mouth, from my eyes, nose, I don't know."

A good Samaritan jumped out of his car, called 911 and took a photo of the suspect as he was running away, according to investigators.

"I need police to catch this man and every man like that," Kirolos said. "To go to the hospital or the police station or anything."
