Which Houston Texan should you take come fantasy football draft time? We break down the picks.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The 2017 Houston Texans boast a handful of serviceable players to fill your fantasy football roster.

With a cosmic shift at quarterback and a key injury in the receiving corps, the Texans can offer up decent mid to late round steals.

Here is a breakdown of the Texans prospects to consider for your draft:

Quarterback

The Texans swapped uncertainty at quarterback with, well, more uncertainty. But the QB position is going to be one of those to watch over the season.

Fourth year QB Tom Savage will most likely start under center heading into Week 1 vs. the Jaguars. The general consensus, though, points at Savage as a game manager, who will try to keep attempts in the air limited to short passes or check downs.

It's also not a guarantee Savage finishes the year as the starter with rookie DeShaun Watson waiting in the wings.

In Watson, the Texans get a dynamic passer and runner who is expected to spread the ball with all skill position players.

If your draft ends up becoming desperate at QB, Savage is your pick to start the season. Otherwise, Watson is a mid to late round steal and as a stash pick.

Running back

This is another position to watch closely given the competition in the backfield and the quarterback situation.

Lamar Miller is RB1 material despite only scoring six touchdowns on a 1,000-yard season in 2016.

Miller will likely be looking over his shoulder when it comes to volume and scoring opportunities. Houston drafted University of Texas product D'Onta Freeman as a complementary back to Miller. Described as a bulky, athletic runner, the Texans could give him third down calls and the coveted goal-to-go opportunities.

Still, Freeman is worth a late round pickup.

Wide receiver

No need to be uncertain over this, but De'Andre Hopkins is an early round pick regardless of position. Given a renewal at QB, Hopkins should benefit, especially in points-per-reception leagues, from a reborn offense that could play around to DeShaun Watson's strengths.

On the other side of the line, though, the Texans will have to cast a suitable number two wideout with Will Fuller out for what will amount to be half of the season.

Below Fuller on the depth chart are Braxton Miller and Jaelan Strong, both of whom have something to prove this season. Miller's rookie campaign was cut short due to injury, and the Ohio State Buckeye is hungry to prove his worth especially as a wide receiver.

Strong enters the season in a leaner shape and should make a run as a stand-in number two for Fuller.

Both can be consider late round to free agent pickups at draft time.

Tight end

CJ Fiedorowicz is number one on the depth chart but shouldn't be considered a must-draft player.

While he's nowhere near the astronomical appeal as Rob Gronkowski or Tyler Eifert, he should be looked as a waiver pick for anyone who didn't fetch an elite tight end in the draft.

Kicker

Nick Novak returns to the Texans special teams unit.

As is the standard in the placekicker position, its success is dependent on the offense. Experts have Novak ranging as a middle to bottom-10 kicker in the league.

Defense

Houston finished number one in the league in total defense last season without J.J. Watt.

Watt is back in the fold this year.
