Adorable kids celebrate July 4th with Teddy Bear Parade
LEAGUE CITY, Texas (KTRK) -- If you went down to League City Tuesday, you were in for a big surprise. The Historical Society invited families from throughout the area to join in their annual Teddy Bear Parade.
On the historic streets of League City, a bit of America's sparkling past met its bright future.
The Teddy Bear Parade marched, rolled and powered its way two blocks through town -- celebrating our independence.
"This has been a small rural community since its inception in the 1850s and we're trying to recapture that," said League City Mayor Pat Hallisey.

Included in this year's parade were 10 sets of twins, four groups of triplets and one set of quadruplets.
Prizes were awarded for different categories by age group.
It is a remarkable thing seeing families in their red, white, and blue -- parents and children together and smiling -- the bikes, and wagons decorated for the occasion.
"I think that it's great that it's old fashioned," said resident Maryanna Thomas. "And we're trying to maintain those family values."
It's even more remarkable when you start seeing double, or in the case of Rosalind, Theodore, and Gavin Malone, triple.
"They helped us decorate," said their father, Alex Malone. "They participated in pulling off the tape and putting things in their mouth. It was definitely a family endeavor."
There were multiple sets of twins and triplets who participated, making up many of the 87 children in this year's parade. But it all started with Catharin Lewis and her siblings years ago.
"I was one of eight children," said Lewis. "And as a neighborhood we'd gather up all of the children in our neighborhood and decorate our wagons and our bicycles and tell everybody to come out and watch us."
Now, it's a community-wide event unlike most others you'll find in southeast Texas.
