Tropical storm Cindy is expected to bring some major storms into the city, and as a precaution some Houston events and businesses have decided it's better to be safe than sorry.

Here is a list of cancellations and closures around town:

Discovery Green and Avenida Houston: Party on the Plaza
The concert featuring the band BrownOut with Vodi
Date cancelled: Wednesday at 5 p.m.

University of Houston ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp competition
University of Houston's camp to engage in a friendly competition to show their creativity and expertise with the Mars Lander Challenge.
Date cancelled: Thursday at 2 p.m.

Schlitterbahn Galveston: World's Largest Swimming Lesson
One of hundreds of locations across the country to host swimming lessons in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record.
Date cancelled: Thursday at 8 a.m.

Texas Workforce Commission's field tax offices and Texas Workforce Solutions - Vocational Rehabilitation Services offices
Offices will open late tomorrow, starting at 10 a.m. This is due to possible inclement weather, including possible heavy rainfall in the following area counties:

Coastal counties are Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, and Jefferson Counties.

Inland areas due to expected heavy rainfall affecting Hardin, Harris, Jasper, Liberty, Newton, Tyler, and Orange Counties.

As storms continue to move in, we will update this list with any new cancellations and closures.

Galveston Independent School District
Crenshaw school will remain closed throughout the rest of this week.
Classes on Galveston Island (Alamo, Ball HS, Parker) will continue as planned.
Date canceled: Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
